There are numerous women in the world today that have BV, but may not know it, because they may not know what to look for, and some women do not even experience symptoms. The most common symptoms include: a bad odor, vaginal discharge, itchiness, and a high Ph level.

Bad Odor: For the several women that have BV, the most common symptom is the odor- people often refer to it as a fishy odor. This symptom can range from very mild, hardly noticeable, to severe enough that other people can smell it even if you have clothes on. This symptom is also one of the main reasons women with BV will go into the Doctor.

Vaginal Discharge: Vaginal Discharge is a common symptom for BV as well as for a yeast infection. The difference is the discharge for a yeast infection is typically white, thick and mucous-like. The discharge for BV typically ranges from a milky white to a grayish tone, and is thin and liquid-like. There may also be a mild burning sensation associated along with it.

High Ph Level: Unfortunately, the most definite symptom of women with BV is one that you cannot tell by feel or smell. There are two ways to test the Ph level—either by going to the doctor or buying one of the at home Ph kits that you can test your own Ph level. Anything above 4.2 is above normal, and therefore, a level that BV can grow.

If you have any of these symptoms, you will want to go to the doctor to make sure you have BV and not something more serious, and then you can get treatment from there. There are several antibiotics out there that will temporarily relieve it, but you will have a chance of having a relapse over and over again, there are natural treatments that will take care of the symptoms for good, so you will never have to worry about it again.
