Infections and pregnancy?
I’m one of the unfortunate women who has gotten infection after infection during my pregnancy. I’ve had yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis multiple times. My doctors don’t know why I keep getting them. I do everything I can to prevent them…I take showers instead of baths, I dry off really well after showers and swimming, I eat yogurt, my fiance and I use a condom when we have sex (I read sperm can cause and/or aggrivate infections), etc. But yet the infections keep coming back. I’m currently 32w4d, and I’m really worried about the infections causing me to go into preterm labor. I take medications for them, but they come back afterwards.
Would the doctors induce labor (when I reach 37 weeks) because of the recurring infections? I don’t necessarily want him to, I just want to be prepared if that’s something that typically happens. Also, if I have an infection when I go into labor, will I still be able to deliver vaginally or will I have to have a c-section?
I don’t think the condoms are causing them, but I honestly have no idea. We didn’t use condoms until after my 4th infection, and then we used them only twice before finding out I had another infection. I plan to ask my doctor these questions at my next appointment. I haven’t been having any signs of preterm labor, so I’m not worried right now necessarily. I just want to know my odds of delivering before 40 weeks.
